Minor Setback

Bummer. So, while I was packing up the last bits of our stuff at Parker's house, one of the fellows from the ICN called with some disappointing news. They're not sure Davis can go home just yet. The two big issues of concern are withdrawal from methadone and reflux. He's only been off methadone for a little while, and it stays in your system for days. They want to make sure he tolerates being without it. With the reflux, they want to go up in volume on his feeds and need to do it gradually over a few days, then watch to be sure reflux isn't an issue. There's a possibility he may need a stronger medication, like Prilosec, if the Zantac doesn't do the trick.

We are definitely disappointed but want Davis to have more time if he needs it. We were a little frustrated in that these seem like foreseeable issues, and we don't exactly live just around the corner. We're still rooming in at the hospital tonight, so at least we get to hang out with him with more privacy than we have in the nursery. That's all the news for now-

Awwww mannnn... that's not cool! Hang in there, though, because you'll get home soon, I can feel it. That boy is amazing, and I love him. You are forever in my prayers!

That stinks, but it is better to take care of it now vs. having to go BACK to the hosp. after you get him home. He has done so GREAT, maybe he has a crush on one of the nurses and he just isn't ready to say "Goodybye" yet... :)

Continued prayers for only a brief extension of stay....

Sorry to hear of your latest news! It really is for the best that you have all of your ducks in a row before bringing him home.
Hang in there, we are all praying for you and know that Davis will be safe at home in no time! :-)

Love,
Sheryl & Family

I am sorry for the delay - we all were looking forward to you being near - I thought I could cook Davis a cowboy (since I have not seen one of late.) Please, if I can help out in anyway when you come home let me know. I have cleaned your office everyday - ya right! I want my office buddy back!!!! And I want Davis home - so I can hold him! Debbie

It's better to stay a few more days at the hospital than having to come back again later :) but I know how hard it is that they tell you he's going home and then they say to wait a lil more.

Davis is a fighter he will be home soon! We are keeping your family in our prayers. I can't wait to see pics of Davis at home :)

It is better that they wait a few days than for you all to have to go back after coming home. You want to stay there after all this!

Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers!
