Last night at Parker's House

This is sunset at Parker's House. It is so beautiful here.

Looks like tonight might be our last night in the Piedmont. If all goes according to plan, we may be going home tomorrow morning. We are so happy to be able to have our family under one roof, all the time... of course, we're a little sad to leave too. Through this experience we've made some relationships that we know will last a lifetime. We've got some of our nurses on speed dial, and under strict orders to come visit us ASAP!

Davis continues to make huge strides. He passed his hearing test today! This is a big deal in that he was on many medications that can contribute to hearing loss. Michael has expectations of Davis being a fantastic musician, so the hearing test was a big deal. He continues to struggle a bit with feeding. If he doesn't start oral feeds within the next month, he may need surgery for a G tube. Hopefully he'll make great progress at home and it won't be an issue.

Tonight I'm going to be greedy in my prayer requests. Michael's grandfather, Harry Ashworth, passed away this morning after a long illness. His service will be this Wednesday. Please remember his wife, Lula, and the rest of the family in your prayers. Harry leaves a huge mark on his family as well as the town of Brevard, and will be missed.

Please continue to keep Maxton in your thoughts. Maxton is puzzling the doctors and preparing to wean some of his ventilation & medication. We know from our experience with Davis what a rocky process this can be, and how hard it is to just wait and see what happens.

We also want to request that you keep the Massey family in your prayers. Nicholas Massey was one of Davis' roommates in the NICU and the TCN, and his family are such sweet people. Nicholas is struggling with some neurological issues and his parents are anxious to work through these issues and take their son home.

I hope the next post will be pictures of us leaving the hospital!

We are so excited to think Davis may be home by Wednesday when the entire Clan assembles to remember and celebrate the life of Davis' Great Grand Father!

All things happen for a reason and in their proper time.

We love you three so much!

Yay,can't wait to see Davis. So much quicker than we thought you are bringing him home. God is truly wonderful and so many prayers have been answered. My condolences to the family for the passing of Mr. Ashworth. Look forward to seeing you back here at home.

Hi,
I am friends with Kathy and Gary Roberts. They have shared your story with me. While my son does not have CDH, he did have feeding problems at birth and was on an NG tube for almost 3 months. We found the Haberman feeder (a special bottle) to be extremely helpful in teaching him to suck and swallow. My son had nerve damage and didn't know how to suck at all!

Good luck to you and your son!

Congratulations!!! I know it will be bitter-sweet to leave such a great place, but will be sooo nice to finally have Davis at home.

We are certainly glad to hear of Davis' progress and know that you are excited at the possibility of having him home. We are saddened at the news of Harry's death. We would have gone to Brevard for the funeral but I have a doctor's appointment that I had already delayed from last week because of the wedding. We will certainly keep them in our prayers as well as Davis, Maxton, and Nicolas. We love you -- Great Grandma and Grandpa

Our condolences to Michael and the entire Ashworth family...

But what a bittersweet reality you all must have right now? Another new step in your lives and, as you continue home, the thoughts and prayers continue here.

Safe travels on your journey home.
Love you all. Way to go on the hearing test, Davis!

You are always in my thoughts and prayers! Today especially as you have to say goodbye to your Grandfather.
I'm sooooo excited about the hearing test...but...don't be too dissappointed with the music thing...I can hear...but NOT music! I know Davis has some music genes that I don't have so his chances of being that musician are much better than mine:)
I do hope you are home by the time I'm getting to this post...
I love you sooo much XOXOXO

Hey Mommy and Daddy... Keep us posted on how it feels to be home with your little guy!!!

As for your prayer requests, they are all noted, and the three of you are, of course, included in these prayers!

I love you!

I saw you a couple of times back in the NICU. My son was born with right side CDH. We have been home for almost three weeks. You'll see that Davis'll do so much better at home with you guys.
Chris (my baby) he has a G tube and a Nisen fundoplacation, he doesn't want anything in his mouth, not even a paci!!! but once you get home keep trying to get him to eat by mouth, and hopefully he wont have to go to surgery.
I wish you the best!!!
