out of surgery
Davis went to surgery around 11.30 this morning and the surgeon just came out to tell us he's done and that everything went well. The hole in the diaphragm was medium to large, so they did have to use a patch rather than just sew the diaphragm back together. The small intestine, large intestine, and spleen were all herniated. They did also have to perform a Ladd's procedure to rotate the intestines and sew them in place. We haven't been allowed to go back and see him yet. Dr. Rice said he felt the surgery went well, Davis' repair looked good, and he feels like he'll be all right with time. We'll update more later...

Congrats guys! You are no longer the parents of a CDH baby! When Carter came out of his surgery, I just could not stop repeating that over and over in my head. Praying that the post surgery road is smooth and short and you guys are working on feeding very soon!

By the way, Davis had his surgery on the 1 year anniversary of Kellie and I finding out that we were pregnant with Carter. Looks like Feb 12th will hold the same special place in your household as it does in ours.
I knew he was a determined to get home with you as soon as he can. You, Michael and of course Davis are never far from my thoughts. Know that you are in my prayers and always sending loving vibes.
