Eating, day two
Today was Davis' second day eating, and he's still getting the hang of it. It takes patience because he gets confused, but we know he'll figure it out soon. For a brief period with Nurse Lindsay, he was excited about his paci- a great sign! Still not sure about surgery tomorrow- it will depend on how feeds go tonight, and whether they're able to place a PIC line this evening. Our fingers are crossed!
How nice is it to see our little Davis eating! I sure hope all went well with his second meal! I can't wait to talk to you about kangaroo time...I know that was absolute bliss:) I love you with all my heart. XOXOXOXOXOX and can't wait to see you again...it will be soon! 'Aunt' Catherine
Poor little guy. I hope he doesn't have to get stuck or tubed or IV'ed or anything more. he has done remarkably well and you can see he looks good, but is tired of it all.
He does look good though! You guys make a beautiful baby.Hang in there.
At around 18 weeks gestation, our son, Davis Michael, was diagnosed with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). CDH is rare, occurring in approximately 1 in 3000 births, and is a hole or absence of the diaphragm that allows stomach contents to move into the chest. In our case, a large amount of intestinal matter and the stomach moved into Davis' chest, displacing his heart and compromising his lung growth. He was born on January 30, 2009 at 1:05 am, and finally discharged on March 10.
