Davis Michael Ashworth was born on January 30, 2009 at Duke University Hospital with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). This blog details his amazing fight...
Oh my goodness, Davis is so incredibly cute...or shall I say handsome? What a great little fighter! Thank you so much for sharing the updated photos with us! Wishing you continued success at home!
Hi there. I can't believe this is the first time I'm reading your blog. I'm currently pregnant with twin girls due in June, and one of my daughters was diagnosed with CDH at 13 weeks gestation. I'm 25 weeks this week. Anyway, we're set to deliver in June, and scared to death. So far, we know that 15% of her liver is up, as well as stomach and intestines. I'm so impressed with sweet Davis' fight. He's doing so well. Congratulations on all of your success with him. I look forward to reading more updates, to give us that much more hope.
At around 18 weeks gestation, our son, Davis Michael, was diagnosed with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). CDH is rare, occurring in approximately 1 in 3000 births, and is a hole or absence of the diaphragm that allows stomach contents to move into the chest. In our case, a large amount of intestinal matter and the stomach moved into Davis' chest, displacing his heart and compromising his lung growth. He was born on January 30, 2009 at 1:05 am, and finally discharged on March 10.
